Deciding to work with NCH was a no-brainer. When people ask what we value most, we tell them that in a tough industry NCH has, without fail, been a trusted partner with our best interests at heart. Being very involved and hands-on in every aspect of the build was important to us, which was always welcomed and accommodated.

As with any custom home, we wanted to do some unique things and you were always open to trying something different and pulling together the right people for the job. National Custom Homes just completed our second custom-built house. They build our first house in Boca Raton in the Estates section 2006/2007 and did a superb job so we had no hesitation in selecting them to build our next home in Por La Mar on the intercoastal. They completed the house and we moved in just in time for Thanksgiving, 2018. Rick and Scott are the epitome of hands-on builders, with a special eye for quality and detail. They have also built an incredible team. We were very fortunate to have Glenn as our building superintendent; he is an engineer by training and a math genius and could figure out any complex problem. He also has the patience of a saint as we are very demanding clients and always want to exhaust every option. We used natural stone as an accent on the façade and must have shipped in over a dozen different samples and pallets to get the right stone and to ensure there were no variations. Also on the team, Lisa Patterson was very helpful working with the design team and helping us located and select suppliers. Joann Stellino was formidable in following up with the subs to keep them on schedule and Vikki Murfitt did an excellent job on keeping us updated with costs compared to budget.

Building a custom house can be a stressful undertaking but knowing that you have a first-class, honest, reputable builder that always keeps their word makes it a pleasure and as we walk around our new home every day, we marvel at the quality of the finished product. When I hired your company for building my new residence, I had high expectations and a detailed vision of what I wanted, and after stepping back to look at what was done I can say you were able to fulfill every expectation and detail. The home I had in mind wasn’t like many other structures so I couldn’t just go see a model and tell you to go off of that. I needed a team that I could work with on every detail of the building, and you all provided exactly that team. I would like to extend my sincerest appreciation for your team’s work ethic that they put forth to complete my project in a thorough and timely manner.

It’s very important in the home-building journey to work with people you can trust and understand. I knew going into this process that the team had a phenomenal reputation, but there’s always that hint of doubt until you experience working with them for yourself. I can certainly say that each person took extra care to make sure I understood the whole process and as much detail as I wished to know. Your team was knowledgeable on every step, and more importantly, they were able to convey difficult to understand concepts. The fluency they demonstrated allowed them to gain my trust and relieve some of the stress that goes with building a new structure.

There were a few times throughout the process that required a judgment call and each time the situation was explained to me in detail allowing for the best decision to be made. The coordination among the team was top-notch, and quality was never compromised. Even during the follow-through of the building process. If I had a question about a detail that I thought needed to be reviewed, there were not hesitant to talk about it and send someone out to take a look. They wanted to be sure I felt comfortable with every aspect of their work.

I have been through the building process a few times, and the complete care that was taken this time was second to none. From layering the foundation to the last coat of paint, attention to detail was at the forefront. Throughout the course of the project, Scott, Rick, and their entire team were completely professional. They were accurate in their initial assessment of the scale and cost of our project. Their record-keeping of all costs and schedules were presented professionally and accurately. The sub-contractors chosen were professional and produced quality work.

Our job was done with care and precision. Our foreman Danny was extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of our project and was able to plan, coordinate, and manage the activities of different work crews effectively. He remained closely involved in overseeing the project from start to finish. His excellent attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and commitment to follow-through are assets that enabled him to juggle the extensive details involved in our project without missing a beat.

In addition, there were extremely clean and tidy in the workplace. They never left the worksite in disarray.

 It is with great pleasure that I wrote this outstanding letter of recommendation regarding you, Scott, and the entire National Custom Homes team.  I purposely waited more than a year to write this, as I had been misled before by folks who say they will deliver before, during, and after the sale, just to find out that after they leave you never hear from them again.  This has certainly not been the case with you and your team.

 From the beginning, my dealings with you and the National Custom Homes team have been straightforward, honest, and professional.  You were well prepared in every meeting and most importantly sought to understand what Ann and I ere trying to accomplish; working hard to help us achieve our dream.  You always made us feel like we were your most important customer at every turn.

 During construction, you made every effort to ensure that schedules were met and when difficulties occurred, you and the team were there with solutions to get us back on track.  You kept your word on everything that was agreed to, regardless of contractual languages…and even added things that were forgotten, but you knew that we would want.  One specific example of this was the well for the landscaping.  We had not discussed this but based on listening to us and getting to know us, you put the well in even though it was not in the original agreement.

 However, as exceptional as you and your team were through the process, it pales in comparison to the care and dedication that you put in after the completion of the home.  Many other builders that we have worked with, in the past are hard to get to, don’t even return calls, are slow to fix items post-close, you and your team are truly “Johnny on the spot”.  There has never been a time where I have not been able to reach the right member of your team, where you or Scott didn’t personally handle an issue or question.  Even post 1 year, you still show the same dedication and care that you did for us and the project at inception.  This is truly a rare quality and puts you heads and shoulders above the rest of your competition.

 The above just solidifies in my mind that I made the right choice in choosing you and the team at National Custom Homes to build our home.  I would highly recommend you to anyone looking to build a home and would tell them that, if I ever built another home in the area, I would only use National Custom Homes to build it.

Dear Rick,

In 1989 my husband and I retired to Florida. We always were apartment dwellers in New York City. We built our first home at the Polo Club with Rick Pfendler of National Custom Home Builders. Not knowing anything about building a home, Rick guided us step by step through the construction of this home. We were very satisfied with everything that he did in this home.

In 1994, we built our second home at the Polo Club, much larger with many more details. It was perfection working with Rick and his company.

In 2006, I became single and purchased a home at Bocaire CC. The house was gutted; nothing left but the walls. I would never have attempted to do this without Rick’s guidance. I moved in my new home in March 2007. The renovation took eight months, as planned. Never once did I have a problem. Rick builds a home as if he would move into the home himself. I would make a punch list and Rick would always add to it and the work would be completed within two days. He was at the job site twice each day. Rick is a perfectionist and he expects his sub-contractors to be perfect. His subs respect him and when he says “jump”, they ask “how high”. He runs a clean job site that was very important at Boccaire CC.

Rick is a very special person with sincerity for his client’s needs. He has integrity and honesty and a complete knowledge home building business. Working with Rick was a most enjoyable experience.

I felt compelled and happy to write to you about our experiences with you and National Custom Homes in connection with our home renovation and addition project just completed. As a Real Estate Attorney from New York City since 1981 and local here in Boca Raton since 1990, I feel I have a unique experience when it relates to these types of projects. I represent developers and builders all over the country and have seen a lot in my years. Needless to say, we were very particular in this project. You and your staff have exceeded all of our expectations as homeowners, and all of mine as an attorney and fellow local businessman.

As you are aware, I have been a Structural Engineer in the Palm Beach and Broward County area for almost thirteen years. I am the engineer of record for both custom and production homes totaling as many as 1250 homes per year. Many of the higher-end custom homes are for ocean/intercoastal properties and in very sought after country club communities. Much of my work requires field inspections, which keeps me in touch with many builders and sub-contractors. When we set our goal for renovating our home we knew the timeline was tight but you promised you would do your best to get it done. Naturally, as with many renovation projects, the renovation scope, because of our decisions, expanded with time.
